Snowden acquired by Downer
2016-17
The Downer/Snowden technology team began work on a data value platform called 'Neuroverse' and a suite of mining consulting tools to transform data analytics in the mining industry.
Neuroverse was launched in November 2016 and was acknowledged by Microsoft as an industry-leading approach to data analytics.
2018-19
Downer created a technology-focused business to promote and progress breakthrough technologies within the organisation. Envista, Snowden, and other Downer digital teams amalgamated.
The Defence Innovation Hub won a contract to create an IED detection system utilising unmanned vehicles, computer vision, and AI. The team created MineDNA, a cutting-edge solution on the Neuroverse platform for advanced asset analysis in mining operations.

2020-21
The development of Neuroverse progressed by introducing a set of value accelerators designed specifically for data visualisation and data science applications. Databricks is positioned as a strategic partner.
TrainDNA was developed, an asset intelligence system utilising Neuroverse technology, to generate valuable insights for Downer's managed rail fleets.
2022
In support of Gov/Defence and SOCI Aligned critical infrastructure organisations, a secure platform product was developed and incorporated into the portfolio to provide solutions up to PSPF OFFICIAL: Sensitive.
Additional development work
on Neuroverse, including the
integration of vision ingestion
and model operations.
Provided RoadDNA, a computer
vision solution that is designed
to detect road defects.
Commenced collaboration with the Downer Utilities division on the WaterDNA concept.
2023
The businesses was relaunched as xDNA in March 2023 as an externally facing company with the goal of expanding as an independent digital business.
The Neuroverse platform has been expanded with the addition of an edge accelerator to enable the HTR AI Operator solution for Mineral Technologies, which is an edge-delivered companion AI model that optimises yield throughput and asset performance.
Taqtile was signed as a strategic partner to support AR-assisted training and work operations.
2023
Multiple opportunities requiring 360-degree views of operations to enable visual management, which led to the development of solutions that optimised the ingestion, analytics, visualisation, and AI-assisted insights for business operations, project operations, and maintenance operations.
Our technological partnerships expanded to include SnagR and Altoura, which greatly enhanced our AR/VR and task management solution capabilities.
